Roots and Wings: An introduction

March 21, 2011

Dear Vijay:

So, here it is: our soul-sister blog. You and I have written lovely letters of friendship for years across oceans, within teardrops, without memory, around poetry's elusive grasp. Our friendship has seen many springtimes as well as winters beckoning colorful skirts to be worn on rooftops, and now we are upon another equinox. This time of beginnings does not only belong to the crocuses, but is our own time to learn to shine, in the Sun Spring Moon Time.

Here are some thoughts and suggestions for our blog: a place to share, a place to brainstorm, a place to reconnect with a deep Listener, with a gentle ear to hear you out, with a patient page to let your discoveries unfold. It can be a place to process, or to pose sincere and even unanswerable questions for each other to ponder. For the convenience of any would-be readers, let the entries be between 3-5 short edible and delectable paragraphs. For me, I like to mask my moments in palatable potions of portends - meaning: the meaning is interpreted, is a languid love disguised in dizzying distractions. Yours may more easily reveal itself, or may mirror my messy midnight memories.

To start: This concept we can stream and weave throughout our words and ideas: "Roots and Wings." A balance, a harmony between our trickly toes getting grimy in the dirt we plant, in the hearts we tend, and an arms-wide-open skyward embrace, rustling the clouds. To live in the Middle Place between our vast dreamings, and our pragmatic manifestations of those doings- the undulations between happy and heavy hills on this roller coaster we call Life. May we travel the road with purpose, grace, and ease- settling in cozily, but never too cozy, to pack up a checkered blanket and a few amenities, and take off on the road- to Everywhere.

Love you lots, and looking forward to sharing this journey together,
--Jeanine
